​From the leafy Brabant countryside, the route sweeps north through Everberg, Erps-Kwerps and Eppegem before pushing into the Flemish heartland via Londerzeel and Baasrode to reach the historic town of Dendermonde on the Scheldt. Continue via Lokeren to the Dutch frontier. The route then heads east through Zele and Lokeren before arcing northwest into the Waasland polder landscape via Moerbeke and Zelzate. Crossing into Zeeuws-Vlaanderen, it touches Assenede, Hoofdplaat, and the coast at Breskens before looping back through Oostburg and Groede. The return leg winds southeast through Sint-Laureins, Lovendegem and vibrant Ghent, then follows the Scheldt valley east through Melle, Wetteren and Wichelen before turning towards Aalst, Asse, Meise, and Grimbergen, finally completing the loop via Vilvoorde and Steenokerzeel back to Tervuren.
