Brutal in the sense that there are little ups and downs the entire route, there's no rest bite to be found here! ...but the actual climbing is the below the 1000m/100k difficulty line. The entire route is very quiet, open road and landscape or passes through forest delights. Unusually, villages and towns are few and far between. Start by heading south west to Libramont Chevigny. Only now pick up a better quality cycle path, the W7 and W5. Together with the EuroVelo5, these three paths arrive at Ciney, two thirds of the ride complete! Yet, cycling paths continue with the L126 to Les Avins, turning south on the W8 and Durbuy, Le Roche en Ardenne and back to Bastogne.  ​
